Insurance Options Explained
Abuse & Molestation - In any industry where you're working with individuals in a one on one setting there's a risk of being accused of some form of abuse or misconduct. Sexual abuse & molestation or misconduct coverage is put in place to cover the legal costs when a claim arises regardless if the claim is warranted or not.
Additional Insured - Additional insured endorsements are very common on commercial liability policies, in many cases it's required for jobsites. leasing a commercial space, and working on projects. This valuable endorsement extends liability coverage for defense cost & third party lawsuits to the additional named insured up to the limits of liability on the policy.
Business Personal Property - Also referred to as contents coverage, business personal property covers anything used within the business on-premise that's not permanently affixed such as: furnishing, art, computers, trade equipment, etc... This coverage in some cases will also extend a percentage of the total amount covered off premise. If you wish to have coverage for property in transit & off premise an inland marine (equipment floater) policy woud be needed.
Excess Liability - Excess liability aloso known as commercial umbrella insurance provides additional liability limits over the underlying General Liability policy. These policies do not broaden the underlying policy in anyway aside from increasing the total limit available. Excess liability policies are purchased in increments of $1,000,000 and can go as high as $50,000,000 if needed. It's important to point out that these policies carry a Self Insured Retention(similar to a dedctible) that range from $1,000 - $100,000 so it's important to review this when receiving a quote.
General Liability - Also known as Business Liability or GL coverage provides businesses coverage for bodily injury, personal injury, product &completed operations liability and property damage caused by the business' operations. This type of policy does not however provide any professional liability coverage unless specified. In addition general liabiltiy policies are written on either a "Claims Made" or "Per Occurrence" form, be sure to discuss the difference with your agent to ensure you're obtaining adequate coverage based on your profession. Coverage limits for this type of policy start at $500,000 / $1,000,000 Aggreagate but can be increased or deceased based on your needs. We strongly suggest a minimum limit of $1,000,000 / $1,000,000 Aggregate
Infectious Disease - When it comes to the tattoo/body piercing industry Infectious Disease coverage is a must have. This inexpensive endorsement provides coverage for bodily injury & legal expenses arising from claims caused by a communicable disease which are a direct result of your operation.
Product Liability - Product liability insurance protects against personal injury or proerty damage caused by a product manufactured, sold, or distributed through your business.
Professional Liability - Also known as Errors & Omissions or E&O Insurance, professional liability protects against claims made when a client suffers financial harm due to a mistake/error on your part when providing a professional service.
Tenant Betterments & Improvements - In many cases when leasing a space you're required to cover any additions, alterations, betterments, and/or improvements made to the building once permanenty affixed. This includes but not limited to added equipment, built in furnishing, fixtures, partitions, etc... It's important to know the difference between Business Personal Property and Tenant Betterments when reviewing your policy and determining the proper amount of coverage in each catergory.
Workers Compensation - In most states this product is required once employees are hired and may not be limited to w2 and/or 1099 employees. The coverage is designed to cover lost wages and medical treatment due to injury on the job, also provides employee recover and eturn to work services.
